I keep reading chatter about Trudeau needing to rethink his commitment to resettling 25,000 people from Syria in Canada. These calls are coming from conservative voices across the country — Premier Brad Wall and Quebec Municipal Affairs Minister Pierre Moreau are among the provincial authorities that are calling on Trudeau to rethink his commitment to resettling Syrian refugees. Xenophobia is being fueled by fear, and we need to stand up for hope, for humanity. There are millions of people who have been devastated by this war and need our support.
Let Trudeau know that you welcome refugees by signing this petition. Over 25,000 people have signed, let’s reach 35,000. And if you are from Saskatchewan and Quebec, your voice is particularly important.
Signing this petition is a small and easy step towards undoing years of racist anti-immigrant policies of the recent governments.
