Chip in to keep stories like these coming.

If you’re looking for a reason to take to the streets this weekend, look no further.

July 7-9, the Government of Canada is hosting a pan-American dialogue on long-term climate action at a 2015 Climate Summit of the Americas in Toronto.

You know what that is? A valuable opportunity for us all to come together and unite our voices.

This weekend unions and environmentalists are joining forces to demand action on jobs, justice and the climate. If you’re on the west coast, actions are happening on July 4. And for other parts of Canada it’s going to be the July 5.

It wasn’t that long ago that you’d have to wait to see the photos and read the news about the protest, but nowadays, you can follow the action on twitter with @rabbleca:

To learn more about this historic action, check out some of the excellent coverage and resources that rabble.ca provides for this kind of thing. Great reading from great writers, and many opportunities to take part in meaningful action for social change. Check it out!

  • This might just be the first action in Canada that has linked jobs with the battle for climate change in a context of social justice. That’s a big deal! Read what Judy Rebick has to say about that here.
  • Naomi Klein says that the Pope is on our side, but that shouldn’t stop us from mobilizing. In fact, it should inspire us. You can read her commentary here.
  • The Activist Communique talks about why you should participate whether you’re in Vangroovy or Tdot, here.
  • Are you happy or sad that you aren’t in Vangroovy or Tdot? You can participate anyway. Look no further than here, at the rabble activist toolkit to find an action near you.
  • Wondering how organized labour and environmental activism came together and organized this march for Jobs, Justice, and the Climate? Megan Devlin attended the rally that launched this March. Here’s her report.
  • rabble’s own Humberto “Not Rex” DaSilva thinks the Pope is dope! Why? Because he thinks capitalism is ruining the planet. Check it out.
